Skire Issues Case Study on the Benefits That Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Has Realized Leveraging Skire Unifier
MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Skire, Inc. (www.skire.com), the leading global provider of cloud-based solutions for managing capital projects, facilities, and real estate, today announced the release of a joint case study on how the deployment of Skire’s Unifier solution for capital project and program management has benefitted Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).
With 155 active gates and over 56 million passengers annually, DFW ranks as the third busiest airport in the world by flight operations and eighth busiest in passenger volume. Keeping up with the continued growth means continual renovation of existing facilities and construction of new infrastructure. Construction management is inherently a complex process, and expansive capital construction programs within the airport sector carry additional complexities due to unique requirements posed by the various airline partners and the multiple funding sources that exist. DFW was looking toward the Terminal Renewal and Improvement Program (TRIP) that earlier this year kicked off a multi-year, multi-billion dollar capital improvement program aimed at extensively improving the travel experience.
In preparation for the TRIP program, in 2010 DFW partnered with Skire to implement the Unifier platform to improve overall management and fiscal accountability of all capital construction projects managed by the Airport Development and Engineering Department. The system was deployed in phases to allow a rapid initial implementation and for users to adapt to the system gradually over time. The first process deployed was for tracking timesheets, a process that historically required duplicate entry into multiple systems. Unifier consolidated the functions into a single system.
Subsequent phases extended the system across all new capital projects with the following functions:
- Project Cost Management
- Construction Field Administration
- Document Management and Control
