Skyscanner reveals Israel and UK are dancing to the Eurovision beat
EDINBURGH, Scotland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Data from international flight comparison site Skyscanner.net shows that Israel has seen the greatest increase in searches for Dusseldorf which will host this year’s Eurovision Song Contest final, while the UK is also showing a keen interest.
With a 192% increase in searches, Israel appears to be most optimistic this year, and with good reason given that they are represented by glamorous transsexual Dana International, the controversial winner of the event in 1998.
While the annual singing contest is ridiculed by some, many feel passionately about it; as reformed boy band Blue prepare to sing 'I Can' at Europe’s pop extravaganza, it seems many of the British public are in agreement, with a 20% increase in searches as fans look to support them.
Other nations proudly flying the Eurovision flag are Italy, who have shown a 34% increase in searches for flights to Dusseldorf as fans look to support their first participation at the event for 13 years, and Portugal, Ireland and Greece, all showing large rises in searches as pop enthusiasts look to forget about their countries economic woes and cheer on their favourites on the big night.
However, despite being the bookies odds-on favourites, France has shown little enthusiasm for cheering on their entrant Amaury Vassili as he sings the operatic ‘Sognu’, with no increase in searches to Dusseldorf.
