AeroMechanical Services Updates AerCap Relationship
CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AeroMechanical Services Ltd. (TSX-V: AMA) (the “Company” or “AMA”) today updated the status of its relationship with AerCap Holdings N.V.(“AerCap”) following a June 3, 2011 announcement by Airbus that it is stopping its A320 Passenger-to-Freighter (“P2F”) conversion program and dissolving the joint venture between sister company EADS EFW, Russia’s United Aircraft Corp. (UAC) and Irkut , the Airbus Freighter Conversions GMBH (“AFC”) . (Click here for a link to the Aviation Week Article).
On February 9, 2010, AMA announced an agreement under which AerCap would install AMA’s Automated Flight Information Reporting System (“AFIRSTM 228”) on their A320 and A321 aircraft that were being converted to freighters by AFC. The agreement also provided for Amsterdam-based AerCap to market the AFIRS 228 and its companion UpTimeTM services to AerCap’s global customers operating passenger aircraft.
The Airbus announcement terminating the P2F program means that AFIRS will not be installed on aircraft that would have been converted. However, AMA and AerCap continue to seek additional opportunities which include, but are not limited to, the promotion of AFIRS 228 as a solution to the regulated upgrades that European operators must implement before February 2015 in order to comply with Link 2000+ and Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC).
