Constant Aviation Continues To Pave The Way On The Wi-Fi™ Movement
CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Constant Aviation, LLC, a maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility headquartered at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, announced today the completion of the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for Aircell’s® Cabin Wireless Access Point (CWAP), which provides in-cabin Wi-Fi service for Gogo Biz™ Inflight Internet, in an EMB135 corporate shuttle. The completion of this STC marks the first ever Gogo Biz installation in an EMB135 corporate shuttle as well as the first ever CWAP system installed in a corporate aircraft.
In addition to the EMB135 corporate shuttle, Constant Aviation has completed the Inflight Internet STC on the Gulfstream IV and the Embraer 600 aircraft. Constant has five additional STC’s on the Citation X, Beechjet 400A, Hawker 800A/XP, Phenom 300, and 737 Business Jet in the final stages of approval with the FAA and has installed the system on over twenty (20) aircraft.
“The Fortune 500 Company based in Northern California operates a fleet of EMB135 corporate shuttles and had a need for offering Wi-Fi service in their aircraft that have a 30+ seat configuration. This was a very unique STC project due to the fact that it pairs Aircell’s CWAP, a router designed for the airline market, with Aircell’s ATG 5000, a transceiver designed for business aircraft. This combination allows up to 75 users simultaneously as compared to the 25 users allowed with the traditional business aviation system. We successfully installed the dual system concurrently on two aircraft with only a 9 day downtime. We began this Wi-Fi STC project at the end of 2010 and are extremely proud of the work that our design and engineering team put forth in order to get this STC completed in just four (4) months. This is an impressive time period due to the complexity of this project and the intricate details within the design. Being able to grow and offer the most current products out there to enhance our customers flying experience is an important business initiative for our organization. The Wi-Fi craze is really starting to catch on and Constant Aviation is at the forefront.” said Jay Rizzo, Vice President, Business Development Constant Aviation.
Gogo Biz™ is an affordable solution in business aviation that provides a true high speed Internet experience that equals what passengers are accustomed to on the ground. It is up to 56 times faster than a traditional dial-up connection, yet it is small and light enough to fit on virtually any business aircraft. An ATG 5000 unit that provides Gogo Biz service for business aviation weighs just 11 pounds and its two belly-mounted antennas weigh just 1.25 pounds each. This new system is in high demand from business aviation operators and aircraft owners.
