Innovative Solutions & Support’s Flat Panel Display System for the B757 Receives EASA STC
EXTON, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Innovative Solutions & Support, Inc. (NASDAQ:ISSC) announced today that the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) issued a Supplemental Type Certification (STC) for use of its Cockpit/IP™ Flat Panel Display System (FPDS) on B757-200 and B757-300 aircraft.
“The issuance of this STC offers European operators of B757 aircraft a proven Flat Panel Display System upgrade”
“The issuance of this STC offers European operators of B757 aircraft a proven Flat Panel Display System upgrade,” says Ross Cairns, Vice President of Business Development for IS&S. “Operators can retrofit their aircraft with modern technology that reduces the cost of operation, increases safety, and provides the growth platform to comply with future requirements. Our Flat Panel Display upgrade provides all these benefits and more, and it has a rapid payback on investment on par with other improvements the operator can make to their aircraft.”
This receipt of an EASA STC for B757 aircraft complements the existing supplemental Type Certificates issued by both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transport Canada.
The Innovative Solutions & Support Flat Panel Display System is in revenue service on more than 100 B757/B767 aircraft including European launch operator Icelandair.
The FPDS is a glass cockpit offering for Primary Flight (PFD) and Navigation (ND) Displays, as well as providing Multi-Function Display capability. Available options for the Cockpit/IP Flat Panel Display retrofit are Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) and Class 3 electronic flight bag capabilities. These consist of electronic navigation charts and applications such as takeoff, en route, approach, landing, missed approach, and go-around information. Notably, Class 3 e-charts from IS&S display own-ship position to pilots through a digital representation of the aircraft’s exact, real-time position on the runway, or in the air. IS&S e-charts are displayed in the pilot’s forward field of view.
