CSSI Appoints Ken Gordon as COO
WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CSSI, Inc., a technical and engineering services company headquartered here, announces it has appointed Ken Gordon as chief operating officer (COO).
“He has the right mix of technical and strategic skills for the job, and he will be an extraordinary mentor and role model for all of our employees. We’re happy to welcome him on board.”
As COO, Gordon will be responsible for overseeing CSSI’s daily operations and business development activities. He will collaborate closely with the leadership team to execute CSSI’s strategic plan, and will be responsible for other mission-critical activities, including revenue and sales growth and financial goal management.
“Ken is a fantastic addition to the CSSI executive team, and his experience, leadership and vision will add significant value as CSSI grows into new markets,” said Cynthia Castillo, CSSI president and CEO. “He has the right mix of technical and strategic skills for the job, and he will be an extraordinary mentor and role model for all of our employees. We’re happy to welcome him on board.”
Gordon joins CSSI at an exciting time. The company won two of its biggest contracts ever in 2010 – a $280 million contract to provide systems engineering support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and a $124 million contract to provide support to the FAA Air Traffic Organization’s Office of Safety. With about 350 employees in Washington, New Jersey, South Carolina and other locations, the company has been growing steadily since.
With more than 20 years of private and public sector experience in a variety of strategic, operational and managerial roles, Gordon’s experience will help CSSI as it pursues even more ambitious goals and growth targets. Most recently, he was president and founder of Antelum Capital Partners, a consulting and investment capital firm focused on government products and services markets. Prior to that, he worked in a number of high-profile roles, including directing the strategic planning process for a $700 million line of business at Raytheon; supporting a number of senior government officials at the Pentagon and in Congress; and working as an engineer at The Aerospace Corporation.
Gordon holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aerospace engineering from the University of Michigan and the University of Southern California (respectively) and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
“Under Cindy Castillo's leadership, CSSI has experienced incredible success during its 20-year history,” said Gordon. “I'm excited to be working with the leadership team to help build upon the company's culture and processes to position us for further growth looking forward.”
