EMS Aviation and Banyan Air Service Pursue Certification for EMS Aspire and eNfusion Systems

ATLANTA & FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--EMS Aviation, a division of mobile connectivity leader EMS Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:ELMG) announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Banyan Air Service to obtain STC certifications for use of the EMS Aspire 200 LG and eNfusion® systems and products on Gulfstream® model GII and GIII aircraft. In addition, Banyan Air Services will be certifying EMS Aviation’s CNX® Cabin Gateway series Wi-Fi® solution for the Gulfstream GIV aircraft.

“We are excited to team with EMS Aviation to provide Gulfstream operators with airborne connectivity”

“EMS Aviation and Banyan have worked together for a number of years, and we are pleased to have their expertise as we continue our quest to enable in-flight connectivity on business jets that is unparalleled elsewhere in the industry,” said John Jarrell, General Manager, EMS Aviation. “With the pedigree of eNfusion systems behind it, the Aspire product family has raised the bar even higher since the release of business aviation’s first, purpose-built, full-color Android handset. The handset is designed to provide landline quality voice service while also offering cabin control abilities and other features such as Wi-Fi, exclusive acceleration and compression, which are key momentum builders among operators, owners and OEMs alike.”

“We are excited to team with EMS Aviation to provide Gulfstream operators with airborne connectivity,” said Brian Wilson, Director of Avionics, Banyan Air Service. “The flexibility and scalable architecture of the Aspire system, when combined with data acceleration and Wi-Fi capabilities, provides the versatility to meet the needs of our clients. Our customer’s aircraft are currently being outfitted with the Aspire 200 LG broadband system and augmented with a dual channel Iridium Satcom and we anticipate that we will receive STC approval through the Federal Aviation Authority early in the fourth quarter of 2011.”

Like its sister eNfusion system, the Aspire 200 LG system can transform any aircraft into an airborne hot spot and allows pilots and passengers to use Wi-Fi enabled PDA devices — including BlackBerry® smartphones iPhones® and iPads® — to access a multitude of applications; such as email, web browsing, smartphone connectivity and voice communications.
