Pexco LLC To Acquire Aerospace & Lighting Extruder AllWest Plastics, Inc.
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pexco LLC, a leading North American extruder for custom thermoplastic applications, has agreed to acquire AllWest Plastics, Inc. of Huntington Beach, California. AllWest Plastics is a custom profile extruder specializing in high-performance thermoplastic extrusions for the aerospace and lighting industries. This event will mark the third acquisition for Pexco in the last four months.
“This is an exciting time for Pexco and we remain focused on investing strategically for new business for specialty applications of extrusion technology.”
Neil Shillingford, Pexco CEO, remarks, "We have had quite a few busy months but this agreement in particular underscores the development opportunities we see in our business of custom extrusion and its application to increasingly dynamic segments such as aerospace and lighting. AllWest Plastics is a great addition to our organization and will help us effectively expand our business in both current market segments and to new global geographies."
AllWest Plastics dates from the late 1970s and was acquired by Scott Leishman, the seller, in 1986. The business began as an extruder manufacturer of commercial lighting fixture components but in the late 1980s and early 1990s began developing a variety of niche applications for higher-performance material extrusions, most notably components for the aerospace industry. The company today is an established supplier of airplane interior components for many of the most well-known aircraft brands in the market, including Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier, and Embraer. The company also services the airline aftermarket through distributors and parts suppliers.
Many industry analysts remain optimistic about the growth projections for aviation industry manufacturing. Factors include increased global air traffic, material light-weighting trends to improve fuel efficiency, interior cabin enhancements and refurbishments, and new plane production orders. Some of these same energy, cost saving, and interior aesthetic trends are also featured in the lighting fixture market, where performance expectations behind LED technology and more efficient light transmission demands are driving commercial market applications.
AllWest has operated a 22,500 square foot facility in the Los Angeles area with 8 production lines and 32 employees. Mr. Leishman will remain with Pexco and serve as International Business Development Director reporting directly to Mr. Shillingford. He comments, "We are very excited about the opportunity to be a part of Pexco and combined to be a dedicated, innovative supplier to these compelling, global industries."
Pexco has previously announced acquisitions of custom extruders in the lawn and garden, fence, and medical industries, purchasing Patrician Products of New York in April and Multitube Medical Devices of Mexico in May. According to Shillingford, "This is an exciting time for Pexco and we remain focused on investing strategically for new business for specialty applications of extrusion technology."
