Stainless Steel Wire Mesh by Banker Wire Adds Seamless Beauty to Multi-Level Parking Deck
MILWAUKEE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Banker Wire, a Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based leading manufacturer of pre-crimped woven wire and welded wire fabrics for worldwide architectural and industrial applications, was selected to provide a stainless steel wire mesh for the Randhurst Village Parking Garage, a multi-level parking deck located in Mount Prospect, Illinois.
“They study the need at hand and come back quickly with an innovative solution that meets or exceeds the structural and aesthetic specifications at reduced costs for the project.”
McShane Construction was the general contractor of the three-story, 239,136 square foot parking deck at Randhurst Village, a 100-acre mixed-use center. The multi-level parking deck, completed in early 2011, provides 586 parking spaces for shoppers and visitors. The exterior of the garage utilized a combination of precast concrete and architectural screen materials to blend seamlessly with the development.
“The original architectural specifications called for European cable and rod flexible mesh, a cable and rod combination requiring the multiple panels of various dimensions to be tensioned in order to be framed, said Ken Tardio, Meyer Metal Systems, the supplier of architectural metal for the project.
Harrison Horan, vice president, Banker Wire, said, “Meyer Metal Systems came to us to see if we had an alternative solution to the tensioned panels. We came up with a weave that matched the European cable and rod flexible mesh specifications in spacing and diameter and created it as a ‘rigid’ mesh. Banker Wire’s mesh cost substantially less than the cable material. This allowed Meyer to introduce a less expensive option while maintaining the architectural requirements.”
“We have worked with Banker Wire in the past and have always been pleased with their efficiency,” added Tardio. “They study the need at hand and come back quickly with an innovative solution that meets or exceeds the structural and aesthetic specifications at reduced costs for the project.”
Meyer Metal Systems, Elgin, Illinois, has specialized in architectural metals and powder-coated aluminum rails for commercial projects since 1999. Visit www.meyermetal.com or call 847-836-0500 for more information.
