Canadian Airline Selects UltiPro® for Improved Efficiency, Control, and Business Intelligence
WESTON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ultimate Software (Nasdaq: ULTI), a leading provider of unified human capital management SaaS solutions for global businesses, announced today that First Air, Canada’s foremost Arctic air carrier, has selected the UltiPro solution as its single HCM system of record to improve the quality and analysis of its employee data.
“Our first priority was to find a platform that could help us easily and efficiently manage day-to-day activities and unify all of our key HCM processes.”
Founded in 1946, First Air is owned by the Inuit of northern Quebec through the Makivik Corporation. With a fleet of more than 20 aircraft, First Air offers scheduled passenger and cargo flights to more than 30 communities in Nunavut, Nunavik, and the Northwest Territories; service to Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, and Montreal; as well as worldwide charter services.
Previously, First Air had been using three disparate systems to handle its workforce management - a payroll service bureau product for payroll, out-of-date software for its HR operations, and an in-house system to bridge the functionality not provided by either of these two limited systems. The company chose UltiPro in May 2011 to address its issues and elevate its HCM operations.
“The systems we had been using were outdated, and because information was not synchronized, we had to perform double and sometimes triple entry of the same data,” said Alexandra Pontbriand, chartered accountant, corporate controller for First Air. “Our first priority was to find a platform that could help us easily and efficiently manage day-to-day activities and unify all of our key HCM processes.”
In addition to streamlining the daily activities of HR and payroll professionals, UltiPro includes role-specific dashboards that give managers and executives immediate access to business intelligence on the company’s people. These dashboards deliver a range of information to decision makers in a “snapshot” view - providing quick visibility into key issues such as turnover, overtime costs, employee time and labor, and other relevant workforce metrics.
“Business advantages for us will be automated processes, better and more timely reporting, reduced paper for greener business practices, and quick access to HR information,” said Pontbriand. “However, we know the benefits of UltiPro will extend beyond these immediate improvements. We’re impressed with Ultimate’s reputation as a forward-thinking company, and we’re excited that UltiPro is a flexible, dynamic solution that will evolve with our business. Most HR systems function as static data repositories, but UltiPro stood out to us because it is designed to provide us with long-term business results.”
“Many HR teams in the past have been forced to cobble together various solutions from different vendors, and the outcomes can be inconsistent, time-consuming, and unreliable," said Greg Swick, chief sales officer for Ultimate Software. "At the heart of optimized, strategic HCM is one accurate, up-to-date master system-of-record for employee data. Having ‘one version of the truth’ on employees is the foundation that makes meaningful analysis possible. Now with UltiPro, First Air will be able to easily access powerful analytics and metrics about its workforce from one central platform. Because the HR team can quickly access employee data from a single source, it will reduce cost, time, and complexity for the company’s HR functions as well as deliver greater insight to impact business-critical decisions.”
