Cathay Pacific Airways Encourages Passengers to Postpone Travel To/Through/From New York Due to Hurricane Irene

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cathay Pacific Airways is encouraging passengers with flights this weekend to, through or from New York’s JFK International Airport to postpone their travel due to Hurricane Irene’s potential impact.

The airline is currently planning to operate its traditional Saturday schedule, but this is subject to review and could change based on the hurricane’s speed and path. These factors, along with any residual effects, will also determine the airline’s local JFK schedule for Sunday and Monday.

To assist customers in altering their travel plans, Cathay Pacific is waiving all rebooking and rerouting fees for Cathay Pacific tickets issued worldwide on or before Aug. 26, 2011 for travel via confirmed bookings on Cathay Pacific involving New York JFK between Aug. 26 and Aug. 29, 2011, inclusive. Cathay Pacific will post updates on its Web site and via Twitter. Given the fluidity of the situation, passengers choosing not to postpone their travel are strongly encouraged to enter their contact details in the Manage My Booking function on the Web site to receive the latest flight updates via SMS or email.

Cathay Pacific operates three daily nonstop flights to Hong Kong from JFK and one daily flight to Vancouver, British Columbia, with continuing service to Hong Kong.
