Flexpoint Receives Follow-up Order from NASA
DRAPER, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Flexpoint Sensor Systems, Inc. (OTCBB: FLXT) http://www.flexpoint.com today announced that they have received a follow-up order from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (“NASA”), to supply their patented Bend Sensors®.
Clark Mower, President of Flexpoint stated, “It is exciting to receive a follow-up order from NASA. This is the second generation of custom sensors they have ordered and is the result of development we discussed in our April 29, 2011 release. This helps validate our relationship and helps to legitimize some of our development projects we have ongoing with NASA. This product will be delivered to NASA prior to the end of this quarter. Given the success of our sensors and NASA’s $18 billion annual budget, we are optimistic that this will lead to future orders from this entity.”
About Flexpoint
Flexpoint Sensor Systems (FLXT) is a leading supplier of thin film sensing technology to many industries, including automotive, medical, industrial controls, and consumer products.
Flexpoint manufactures a patented new flexible sensor that has also proven to be an extremely durable switch. The single layer Bend Sensor product allows for the measurement of mechanical movement, air flow, water flow, or even vibration. In addition, it has been tested to over 35 million cycles without failure. It can be used as a range of motion sensor, or as a very durable, very reliable switch in most harsh environments. The breadth of applications for our sensor is limited only by one's imagination.

About The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)
Since its inception in 1958, NASA has accomplished many great scientific and technological feats in air and space. NASA is an executive branch agency of the United States government, responsible for the nation's civilian space program and aeronautics and aerospace research. NASA technology also has been adapted for many non-aerospace uses by the private sector. NASA remains a leading force in scientific research and in stimulating public interest in aerospace exploration, as well as science and technology in general.
NASA Headquarters, in Washington, provides overall guidance and direction to the agency, under the leadership of the Administrator. Ten field centers and a variety of installations conduct the day-to-day work, in laboratories, on air fields, in wind tunnels and in control rooms. NASA has a robust program of exploration, technology development and scientific research that will last for years to come.
NASA conducts its work in four principal organizations, called mission directorates:
- Aeronautics: pioneers and proves new flight technologies that improve our ability to explore and which have practical applications on Earth.
- Exploration Systems: creates capabilities for sustainable human and robotic exploration.
- Science: explores the Earth, solar system and universe beyond; charts the best route of discovery; and reaps the benefits of Earth and space exploration for society.
- Space Operations: provides critical enabling technologies for much of the rest of NASA through the International Space Station and flight support.
