DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Frontier Airlines said today that due to the expected impact of Hurricane Irene, it has canceled a number of flights originally scheduled to operate to or from East Coast cities Aug. 27-29, 2011. The airline has also added extra flights to its schedule on Saturday, Aug. 27, to accommodate travelers who are able to change their plans and travel in advance of the storm.

Passengers scheduled to travel to or from Boston, Hartford, Newport News/Williamsburg, New York (LaGuardia), Newark, Philadelphia or Washington, D.C. (Reagan) in the coming days are advised to visit the travel advisory page on FrontierAirlines.com for more information and to check the status of their flights.

Additionally, Frontier has revised its policy guidelines to provide customers the flexibility to travel before or after the hurricane. The revised policy applies to guests who purchased tickets on or before Aug. 24, 2011.

Customers who have already started their travel may make one itinerary change. Rules and restrictions regarding standard change fees, advance purchase, day or time applications, blackouts, and minimum or maximum stay requirements have been waived. Origin and destination cities must remain the same. Changes must be made by midnight, Aug. 30, 2011, and travel completed by Sept. 4, 2011.

Customers who have not begun travel may make one change to their travel plans without a change fee or difference in fare if changed by Aug. 30, 2011, and travel is completed by Sept. 4, 2011. All travel rescheduled after Sept. 4, 2011, may be subject to higher fares if it does not meet the original rule or booking class.
