MD Logistics Opens West Coast Distribution Center
PLAINFIELD, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MD Logistics has expanded its operations with a 55,000 square foot facility in Reno, Nevada to meet the needs of their growing customer base. This new facility will operate as an FDA registered, Pharmaceutical grade warehouse, adhering to cGMP compliance. Capabilities will include controlled room temperature and cold chain storage and distribution services. Currently MDL operates two facilities used for Retail and Pharmaceutical goods distribution in Plainfield, Indiana. With the addition of the Reno distribution center, MDL’s facilities are now within a 24 hour drive of eighty percent of the US population, increasing the speed of which goods will flow to market. President of MDL, Mark Sell went on to say, “MD Logistics’ new state of the art Reno distribution site will allow us to continue to improve our supply chain execution, by providing improved efficiencies for the expanding west coast customer base. With the addition of our Reno facility, we provide our growing Pharmaceutical cold chain and Retail clients both contingency and cost savings.”
“Reno offers an excellent strategic location, a readily available work force and a cost effective business climate. It will allow us to continue to grow with both our existing customer base as well as attract new opportunities that require west coast distribution services and expertise.”
The expansion to Reno is expected to create approximately twenty new jobs ranging from warehouse personnel to managers and supervisors. MDL has already relocated a key group of managers to get the Reno facility up and running, and will have the facility fully staffed in 2012. When looking to expand West, Reno was selected due to its strong transportation infrastructure (air, rail and interstate) and its close proximity to large west coast markets. Sell also reveals additional benefits from the west coast expansion. “Reno offers an excellent strategic location, a readily available work force and a cost effective business climate. It will allow us to continue to grow with both our existing customer base as well as attract new opportunities that require west coast distribution services and expertise.”
Adding to their 3PL service offerings, MDL will continue its strategic partnership with global freight forwarding partner Seko Worldwide, and will be operating Seko Worldwide-Reno out of this facility.
