OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Navis, a part of Cargotec Corporation and the global technology standard for managing the movement of cargo through terminals, today announced the appointment of Troy Thompson as vice president, global account management and Erik Ward as regional sales director, North America. Thompson and Ward join Navis as strategic hires to further the company’s continued commitment to current and new customers both regionally and globally.
“I look forward to bringing my experience to Navis and helping to serve customers globally with best-of-breed solutions.”

Troy Thompson comes to Navis from its parent company Cargotec, where he served as president of port security as well as president of Bromma, Americas. In this role, he helped Bromma achieve its position as industry leader in the crane spreader market. At Navis, Troy’s primary focus will be managing and enhancing key global customer relationships. With his longstanding employment and knowledge within the Cargotec organization, Troy will work closely with the other Cargotec global account managers to improve the deep relationships that both Navis and Cargotec have already built.
“I’m thrilled at the opportunity to work at Navis and to also remain a part of the Cargotec family,” said Thompson, vice president, global account management. “I look forward to bringing my experience to Navis and helping to serve customers globally with best-of-breed solutions.”
As regional sales director in North America, Erik Ward will handle key regional accounts and new business initiatives. Ward returns to Navis – having worked with the company from 1999 to 2004 in various support, account management and sales roles – after holding project manager and director positions with Tideworks and eModal. Having attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, Ward began his career in the port industry in 1996 with a position in container and RoRo operations at SSA Marine’s International Division.
“I’m grateful to be welcomed back to Navis,” said Ward. “I’m confident that the experience I’ve gained, from my roots with Navis and in subsequent roles in the industry, will enhance customer relationships in North America.”
