Research and Markets: Airlines in India - Industry Report
DUBLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/d61be3/airlines_in_india) has announced the addition of the "Airlines in India- Industry Report" report to their offering.
India is one of the few civil aviation markets in the world that witnessed near double-digit growth continuously for the past two decades - and this growth story continues. While the aviation industry in many parts of the world faces a recessionary trend, the Indian market has maintained its growth both in terms of passenger and cargo traffic.
Domestic air passenger traffic in India has witnessed a growth of over 19% between January and August 2010, compared to the same period last year. Passengers carried by domestic airlines during January-August were nearly 34 million compared to the 28.4 million in the corresponding period in 2009. India's domestic passenger traffic is expected to grow at a rate of 9-10 per cent to reach a level of 150-180 million by the year 2020. This makes India amongst the fastest growing aviation markets in the world with private airlines accounting for the major share of this growth.
