RigNet Expands Oil and Gas Communications Solutions Via Intelsat
LUXEMBOURG & HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Intelsat S.A., the world’s leading provider of satellite services, announced that it has received multiple contracts from RigNet, Inc. (NASDAQ: RNET), a leading provider of managed communications to the oil and gas industry, for new and renewed satellite capacity. RigNet provides the oil and gas industry with managed communications and other network-based services for remote drilling, completion and production sites, meeting the exacting demands of oil and gas customers for reliability, technical support and customer service.
“Our advanced infrastructure allows RigNet to deliver remote communications services to offshore rigs, completion and production sites, and various office locations, ensuring a dependable solution for its customers.”
Intelsat will provide new capacity to RigNet to support the communications needs of oil and gas customers in remote locations on Intelsat 901 at 342º E and in the Middle East on Intelsat 902 at 62º E. RigNet also renewed its existing capacity agreement on Intelsat 707 at 307º E, which supports similar offerings in the Gulf of Mexico. These multi-year contracts will allow RigNet to meet its existing customer commitments in these regions and will position the company for expected future growth. As part of its end-to-end solutions, RigNet will access Intelsat’s advanced ground network, IntelsatONESM, connecting RigNet’s oil and gas remote users to its head offices using Intelsat’s teleport and terrestrial facilities.
“As bandwidth needs grow to support higher end-user activity and the increased push of applications, oil and gas companies increasingly choose RigNet for our global reach, technical sophistication and network reliability,” said RigNet CEO Mark Slaughter. “Intelsat’s flexible and resilient global network provides us the ability to deliver the most advanced communications services available, meeting our customers’ needs across the world.”
“Reliable broadband connectivity is essential for oil and gas platform operations,” said Kurt Riegelman, Intelsat’s SVP of Global Sales. “Our advanced infrastructure allows RigNet to deliver remote communications services to offshore rigs, completion and production sites, and various office locations, ensuring a dependable solution for its customers.”
