Senator Lieberman and DNDO Director Stern Tour Smiths Detection Connecticut Operations

DANBURY, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Smiths Detection welcomed Senator Joseph Lieberman (I-CT) and Warren Stern, Director of the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) to its Danbury, Conn. facility which designs, develops and manufactures a wide range of products to support and protect U.S. military, first responders and homeland security operations.
Senator Lieberman and Director Stern toured the facility which has just received formal DHS approval to manufacture RadSeeker, a handheld radiation detector and identifier. Senator Lieberman also addressed more than 100 employees at the site about how continued growth in the fields of technology and innovation are critical to the local CT and U.S. economy.

Smiths Detection - Danbury specializes in providing military and emergency responders with handheld or portable solutions for chemical, biological, radiological and explosive detection and identification. In 2010, the facility expanded its manufacturing expertise to support increased competition for contract awards made by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to supply airports with its Bottle Liquid Scanner, a device that analyzes liquids through plastic and glass for threats, such as explosive materials.
