Data from Aena [http://www.aena.es ], the world's leading airport operator in terms of passenger numbers, shows that Tenerife saw a 25 per cent spike in visitor numbers in the first half of 2011. The neighbouring islands of Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote also fared well during this timeframe.
