AAI Test & Training’s ABE® Selected for Eurofighter Typhoon EF-2000 Boresighting
HUNT VALLEY, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AAI Test & Training, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today that it has been awarded $2.2 million by EADS-Deutschland, Cassidian for three Model 310A Advanced Boresight Equipment (ABE) systems to support Eurofighter Typhoon EF-2000 aircraft operated by the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force. To date, AAI Test & Training has delivered EADS-Deutschland, Cassidian 18 ABE systems for the Eurofighter Typhoon EF-2000, supporting aircraft operated by the United Kingdom, Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain and Saudi Arabia.
“Our ABE system is a reliable, time-tested boresighting solution that provides warfighters the data they need to ascertain the mission readiness of their critical avionics and armament systems”
“Our ABE system is a reliable, time-tested boresighting solution that provides warfighters the data they need to ascertain the mission readiness of their critical avionics and armament systems,” says AAI Test & Training Senior Vice President & General Manager Bob Peters. “It is easy to use and significantly reduces end-to-end harmonization time compared to legacy boresighting systems. For these reasons, the ABE system is trusted by aircraft operators and aircraft manufacturers alike.”
ABE is a gyro-stabilized, electro-optical angular measurement system designed to align aircraft subsystems. Because the ABE system supports concurrent maintenance and does not require aircraft to be jacked and leveled during the boresight procedure, both depot- and operational-level users can maintain schedules and reduce phase maintenance costs. These features also support increased manufacturing throughput for original equipment manufacturers, or OEMs.
AAI Test & Training’s ABE system is utilized by the U.S. Air Force, Army, Marine Corps and Navy for both weaponized and cargo aircraft used to support tactical and peacetime efforts. In addition, the systems have been embraced by several allied nations. More than 160 ABE systems have been fielded around the world, supporting more than 20 different aircraft platforms.
