BAE Systems to Highlight Affordable, Versatile Solutions at AUSA Annual Meeting & Exposition

--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BAE Systems will showcase a full range of affordable and versatile solutions at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting & Exposition in Washington, D.C., Oct. 10-12.

BAE Systems will conduct several media briefings on significant programs and capabilities during the AUSA event. Briefings currently scheduled during the show are:

Self Defense Remotely Operated Weapon (SD-ROW) — Affordable Lightweight Turret. BAE Systems will display its recently developed, low-cost Self Defense Remotely Operated Weapon (SD-ROW) for the first time in the U.S. to highlight its capabilities and affordability. The newly designed SD-ROW is a lightweight weapon system equipped with a small calibre weapon and designed for use on a variety of soft-skinned, light armored and mine protected vehicles.

New Bradley AMPV Variant, the World’s First Variable Height Combat Vehicle. What if you combined the versatility of the M113 platform with the combat proven Bradley Fighting Vehicle? In tomorrow's uncertain landscape, the nation may not be able to fully forecast how and where it will be called to fight, so BAE Systems engineers sought the most cost-effective way to put Bradley survivability, mobility, and maneuverability into meeting the M113 mission roles. The company will debut the Bradley AMPV, the world’s first truly convertible combat vehicle.

Breakfast: Providing Real-Time Intelligence Support in an Era of Persistent Conflict. Intelligence support plays a critical role in protecting the warfighter from both known and unknown threats on the battlefield. The U.S. Army faces the challenge of concurrently addressing technological challenges and laying the groundwork for 2020. During this panel discussion, BAE Systems experts will examine industry’s role in providing real-time intelligence support to help the Army predict, prevent, and protect against threats in an era of persistent conflict. Emerging trends in analysis will be explored — including wide-area persistent surveillance, activity-based intelligence, and the evolution of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance analysis — to help soldiers stay a step ahead of the enemy.

Thermal Imaging Technologies to Support of Frontline Troops. BAE Systems is showcasing several new technologies engineered to give special operations forces and soldiers a decisive advantage in detecting, observing, and engaging the enemy, day or night. The company will discuss current products such as the Universal^® Thermal Binocular, the Universal^® Thermal Clip-on, the Universal^® Thermal Monocular, the Remote Eyepiece Display-Imager^®, and the SkeetIR^® micro mono-sight. BAE Systems’ thermal imagers are among the smallest and most versatile available, the smallest the size of a credit card.

Emerging Stealth and Stealth-Related Technologies. BAE Systems will brief reporters on a range of technologies, including the Adaptiv infra-red 'cloaking' technology, which increases a vehicle’s stealth and survivability, while reducing crew workload and stress. These technologies result in a vehicle that is more agile, flexible, safer, more reliable, more comfortable and more effective on the battlefield.

Supporting Army Aviators. BAE Systems will showcase its new Brownout Landing Air System Technology (BLAST), an advanced new helicopter safety technology solution for military helicopters operating in dusty terrain in locations such as Afghanistan and Iraq. BLAST boosts visibility when conditions are not conducive to takeoff or landing procedures. DVEs, or degraded visual environments, include not only brownouts, but also smoke and fog. BLAST harnesses features already present in earlier legacy technologies to counter DVEs.
