STERLING, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PIXIA Corp., the industry leader in high-performance scalable big data access solutions, today announced that it has named the Honorable John J. Young Jr., former DoD ‘Procurement Czar’, to its Board of Advisors. Young has an extensive range of legislative and executive branch experience in the areas of defense technology, procurement, and research and development programs.
“The Department of Defense is one of the world’s largest producers and consumers of data. John’s intricate knowledge of the DoD will greatly assist in rapidly fielding and sustaining PIXIA’s data access solutions within the Department.”
Mr. Young recently completed service as the Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (AT&L), overseeing a $200 billion budget focused on research, development, procurement, and logistics programs. As Undersecretary of Defense, Young led the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Vehicle program, guided the Biometrics Task Force, drove DoD utilization of competitive prototyping, accomplished an unprecedented swap of shipbuilding workload, and defined and achieved an expansive set of goals within the AT&L organization.
“We here at PIXIA are extremely excited to have John join our advisory team,” said PIXIA’s CEO, Rudi Ernst. “The Department of Defense is one of the world’s largest producers and consumers of data. John’s intricate knowledge of the DoD will greatly assist in rapidly fielding and sustaining PIXIA’s data access solutions within the Department.”
“PIXIA’s technology is vital to today’s warfighter and intelligence analyst,” said John Young. “PIXIA’s products allow defense and intelligence users to rapidly access and analyze the vast amounts of data being produced by today’s ISR systems, while simultaneously reducing bandwidth demands and data storage requirements for positioning intelligence closer to the warfighting decision makers. Under Rudi and Patrick Ernst’s leadership, PIXIA has proven that small, agile firms can make essential contributions to our toughest defense acquisition challenges.”
During his Pentagon tenure, Young was awarded the DoD, Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Army Distinguished Civilian Service Awards as well as the Department of the Navy Distinguished Public Service Award. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, has earned a Master’s degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University and a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
