AAI Test & Training Awarded U.S. Navy IDIQ Contract for Universal Test Sets
HUNT VALLEY, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AAI Test & Training, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today that it has received an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head, Md., for the Universal Test Set (UTS). The award has a total potential value of $29.2 million over three years. A first delivery order for $3.1 million includes spares, accessories and related services.
“Our UTS provides reliable, repeatable field verification of CREW equipment so warfighters can conduct their missions with confidence.”
The UTS is a portable, battery-powered test set designed to verify counter-RCIED (radio-controlled improvised explosive device) electronic warfare, or CREW, equipment. Ruggedized and programmable, the UTS is a user-friendly, in-the-field confidence builder for warfighters employing CREW systems prior to combat operations and other dangerous missions. The system can be used to test communication and CREW systems currently deployed around the globe.
“IEDs remain a critical threat to our troops, and their CREW equipment can only be effective when it is fully operational,” says AAI Test & Training Senior Vice President and General Manager Robert Peters. “Our UTS provides reliable, repeatable field verification of CREW equipment so warfighters can conduct their missions with confidence.”
UTS systems are in use by the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps. AAI Test & Training has completed 340 total UTS deliveries to date, with another 270 systems scheduled for delivery in early 2012.
