DHL Appoints New Chief Executive Officer for DHL Freight

DHL, the world's leading logistics provider, announced today that Amadou Diallo is taking over the position as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) DHL Freight. In his new function, Amadou Diallo will be responsible for DHL's international Road and Rail Freight Services.

Prior to his new responsibility, Amadou Diallo was Chief Executive Officer of DHL Global Forwarding for Africa and South Asia Pacific and a member of the DHL Global Forwarding, Freight Executive Board since 2004. Diallo was appointed to head the South Asia Pacific region in June 2008, prior to which he was Chief Financial Officer of DP DHL Logistics Division and responsible for the integration of the supply chain management company Exel and DHL in the position of a Managing Director.

Amadou Diallo has also been serving on the Board of the Singapore Economic Development Board since 2010, is a member of the Board of Governors of the University Business School in Mumbai, and Chairman of the Future Global 100 initiative by Platinum Circle. In 2011, Diallo was named Africa's Innovation Leader of the Year in the Ai Investment Awards 2011.

Thomas Nieszner, who previously held the function of CEO Global Forwarding Europe/Central and Eastern Europe at DHL since 2006 succeeds Diallo and he will be responsible to drive further growth and development in the regions Europe, Middle East and Africa. From 1995 until today Thomas Nieszner held various positions within Deutsche Post DHL, including CEO Danzas Intercontinental Switzerland, CEO Danzas AEI Intercontinental, Asia Pacific and Executive Vice President Global Products, Marketing & Sales, DHL Danzas Air & Ocean. Overall, Nieszner has more than 16 years' experience in the logistics industry. In 2010, DHL aligned Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia Pacific into one operating region under the leadership of Diallo. DHL now expands the alignment and creates the new region Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) under the leadership of Nieszner.
