Rolls-Royce and AviancaTaca Sign Trent 700 Agreement
RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to provide Trent 700 engines to AviancaTaca for four Airbus A330 aircraft. The agreement includes Rolls-Royce TotalCare® long-term engine services and support.
“This latest agreement marks a significant element in our plans to further strengthen our presence as we become the first A330 freight operator in the region.”
The aircraft will be acquired by AviancaTaca and operated by its subsidiary, Tampa-Cargo. The aircraft will establish Tampa-Cargo as the first A330 freight operator in Latin America. The MOU is subject to final contractual agreement.
“We were the first operator to bring the Trent 700 into passenger service in Latin America,” said Fabio Villegas, president and CEO, AviancaTaca. “This latest agreement marks a significant element in our plans to further strengthen our presence as we become the first A330 freight operator in the region.”
Peter Turner, Rolls-Royce, Civil Aerospace Vice President – Customer Business, said: “The Trent 700 is the most fuel efficient, cleanest and quietest engine for the Airbus A330 and has become the engine of choice for both passenger and freight operators. The combination of Trent engine technology and comprehensive TotalCare® support will deliver significant benefits for AviancaTaca.”
AviancaTaca currently operates seven passenger Trent 700-powered A330s, with three more to be delivered next year.
The Trent 700 is the only engine specifically designed for the Airbus A330 and is the most fuel-efficient, cleanest and quietest engine for the aircraft.
More than 1,400 Trent 700 engines are now in service or on firm order and in the last three years the engine has captured more than 75 percent of orders.
