Three Airlines Choose Sabre to Drive New Ancillary Strategies
Dépèche transmise le 8 novembre 2011 par Business Wire
LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sabre Travel Network, a global technology company serving travel suppliers and agencies, will provide its seamless merchandising solutions to three more airlines.
Alitalia and Finnair will leverage industry technology standards, including the Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD), to enable travel agents to shop, book and ticket the airlines’ ancillary products through the Sabre global distribution system (GDS).
Additionally, South African Airways will offer ancillary products via EMD and has also signed to distribute its branded fares through the Sabre GDS.
Earlier this year, Air New Zealand was the first airline to use Sabre’s EMD solution. Travel agents can now help the airline market and sell pre-paid bags to travelers. The airline expects to add more ancillaries to the Sabre GDS in the future. Air New Zealand also uses Sabre’s Branded Fares solution, making its fare families available to Sabre-connected agencies.
Sabre’s innovative merchandising technology enables airlines and travel agents to sell any ancillary product or service using an automated process that is fully integrated into travel agents’ workflow, allowing them to quickly and efficiently serve travellers.
In addition to helping airlines quickly bring new products and services to the marketplace, the use of industry-developed technology standards by ATPCO, IATA and ARC also allows travel agents to easily market and sell airlines’ offerings by efficiently managing the increasingly complex world of comparison shopping.
Chris Kroeger, senior vice president of marketing, Sabre Travel Network, said: “Revenue generated by ancillary products is of critical importance to airlines. Sabre delivers innovative solutions that meet this vital need and provide an efficient and transparent travel marketplace. Our expanding merchandising capabilities help airlines make more money and get closer to travelers, while at the same time allowing travel agents to maintain streamlined and efficient operational processes.”
Sabre’s merchandising capabilities are another innovative solution within the Sabre Red Workspace, helping agencies serve the needs of both travel suppliers and buyers.
