PrismTech’s OpenSplice Gateway Boosts Operational and Information Systems Convergence
AMSTERDAM--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PrismTech™, a global leader in standards-based, performance-critical middleware, has released the OpenSplice Gateway™, a disruptive technology to seamlessly integrate real-time mission- and business-critical Operational and Information Systems.
“This technology greatly simplifies the integration of DDS-based Operational Systems with Information Systems, and will accelerate the OT/IT convergence over DDS.”
Leading analysts such as Gartner and Forrester are seeing a technology convergence occurring that conflicts with the historical separation of operational and information systems. Organizations increasingly need real-time processes which in turn requires integrated information.
However organizations are facing big challenges in addressing this convergence due to poor integration, inflexible data sharing, and lack of technology synergies between their Operational and Information Systems. There is a pressing need for enabling technologies that can allow Operational and Information System “islands” to become an integrated whole so allowing real-time situational awareness, production optimization, business intelligence, etc.
An example of this in the Air Traffic Control and Management sector is SESAR’s System Wide Information Management (SWIM), where the integration and convergence of Operational and Information Systems is the only way to optimize gate-to-gate operations, reduce costs and pollution, and improve customer service.
PrismTech’s OpenSplice DDS, a leading implementation of the Object Management Group™’s (OMG™) Data Distribution Service for Real-Time Systems specification, has already established itself as a technology that can help with this convergence.
Now PrismTech’s OpenSplice Gateway brings an integration “master key” allowing organizations to converge their Operational and Information Systems, while bridging across technologies and Quality of Service (QoS) requirements.
OpenSplice Gateway supports off-the-shelf over 80 connectors, such as the OpenSplice Real-Time Wire Protocol, the OMG DDSI, as well as transports that are standard in Enterprise and Web applications, such as CometD, REST, W3C Web Services, etc. In addition, the OpenSplice Gateway provides a framework for developing connectors to other transports – so greatly simplifying the integration of systems based on custom or proprietary technologies. At its heart is a very efficient Routing and Transformation Engine that can manipulate data format, transform its content and adapt the QoS between the incoming and outgoing data-flows.
“The OpenSplice Gateway is a key enabler in allowing Operational and Information Systems convergence,” said Angelo Corsaro, PhD, OpenSplice DDS CTO, PrismTech. “This technology greatly simplifies the integration of DDS-based Operational Systems with Information Systems, and will accelerate the OT/IT convergence over DDS.”
