Trinity Broadcasting Network Awards Contract to TBC Integration for Head-end and KTBN Compression Upgrade
LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TBC Integration was awarded a contract by Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), a broadcaster serving more than 76 program streams worldwide via 27 satellites, to upgrade their C Band satellite distribution service on Galaxy 14, as well as upgrade and add High Definition to KTBN, their Los Angeles, CA broadcast station.
“By upgrading TBN’s existing Harmonic compression system to the latest technology, they can provide an even better video experience to their worldwide viewership without increasing their operational costs. It is our pleasure to be a part of this next step.”
Both upgrades will include Harmonic's market-leading Electra® 8100 encoders for both Standard and High Definition, ProStream™ 1000 stream processing platform with DiviTrackIP™ statistical multiplexing, and NMX™ digital service manager. For their satellite distribution, it will improve the video quality by a minimum of 20% and allow another Standard Definition channel to be added when needed without increasing satellite bandwidth costs. As for KTBN, the new equipment will allow the main Trinity channel to switch from Standard Definition to High Definition without degrading the other Standard Definition channels (The Church Channel, Smile of the Child, JCTV, and Enlace) on the same 6MHz carrier.
Ben Miller, Vice President of Engineering for Trinity Broadcasting Network, comments, "When faced with the challenge of needing to convert 35 stations from a 5 channel SD mux to a 4 SD and 1 HD using the same bandwidth and with no quality loss, and to support them with the highest quality possible satellite transmission, I turned to TBC Integration and Harmonic to provide a solution that met these goals. Both have a very positive history with our organization, and I know our expectations will be favorably met on this project."
“For many years, we have been fortunate to provide products and services to TBN,” says Sean Busby, Executive Vice President for TBC Integration. “By upgrading TBN’s existing Harmonic compression system to the latest technology, they can provide an even better video experience to their worldwide viewership without increasing their operational costs. It is our pleasure to be a part of this next step.”
