The US Airline Pilots Association (USAPA), representing the pilots at US Airways, is calling on the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to issue new Flight Time/Duty Time Regulations without further delay. The latest deadline for publication -- August 1st -- has passed, and the process for receiving input was concluded last year. While the aviation industry waits on the FAA, it is USAPA's opinion that safety is being compromised.

Aerosonic Corporation , a leading supplier of precision flight products for commercial, business and military aircraft, today announced that it has received a new contract award from Defense Logistics Agency in support of the US Army Aviation Command. The contract is to supply AAU/32A Encoding Altimeters used on the UH60 Blackhawk and OH58 Helicopter Fleet. The order includes options for two years beyond the initial delivery order. Deliveries will begin immediately on the initial delivery requirement valued at $1.1 million followed by options over the next two years for a total potential value of $4.6 million.

The Northern Canadian Tsay Keh Dene First Nation is outfitting a remote airfield with solar LED lighting systems provided by Carmanah Technologies . The new airfield lights will help supply and medevac aircraft navigate their way to and from the remote village located on the northern end of the Williston Reservoir, British Columbia. The solar-powered airfield project was one of two projects funded by the Canadian Government’s Innovative Clean Energy Fund.
