American Science and Engineering, Inc. , a leading worldwide supplier of innovative X-ray detection solutions, reported today that it has received a notice of Deobligation of Funds regarding an award for the delivery of a modular Z Backscatter™ system from a U.S. government agency for remote IED (improvised explosive device) detection and defeat. The U.S. government partially funded this multimillion award in September 2010, and has deobligated the remaining funding. The deobligated amount, which is not considered to be material to backlog, has been removed from backlog in the current period.
