Le nouveau service européen de radionavigation par satellite renforce la sécurité aérienne

Le 2 mars, la Commission européenne a lancé le service EGNOS <> destiné au secteur de l'aviation. Le système EGNOS permet de réaliser des approches de précision et rend plus sûre la navigation aérienne; il aura aussi pour effet de contribuer à réduire les retards ainsi que les déviations et les annulations de vols. En outre, grâce à cette technologie en accès libre, les aéroports pourront augmenter leur capacité globale et baisser leurs coûts d'exploitation. EGNOS permet également d'élaborer des plans de vol plus courts et plus économes en carburant, qui diminueront les émissions de CO2 de ce secteur. EGNOS est un système de renforcement satellitaire qui améliore la précision des signaux de navigation par satellite en Europe. Il ouvre la voie à Galileo, le système mondial de navigation par satellite que l'Union européenne développe actuellement.
