L'Aéroport de Francfort - une antenne stratégique pour l'A380 célèbre le premier Super-Jumbo basé au FRA

Le 19 mai, l'Aéroport de Francfort (FRA) accueillera une nouvelle fois le Super-Jumbo A380. Fraport, propriétaire et gérant du FRA, estime que l'atterrissage aura lieu à environ 16H00. à son arrivée, le premier A380 à rejoindre la flotte de Lufthansa sera officiellement nommé "Frankfurt am Main" (Francfort sur le Main) par la Mairesse de Francfort, Pertra Roth, lors d'une cérémonie à la base de maintenance de l'A380 au Sud de l'aéroport. Lufthansa a commandé 15 A380 et mis une option sur une dizaine d'autres appareils pour sa flotte Super-Jumbo qui sera basée au pôle intercontinental FRA. Le vol d'inauguration du premier A380 de Lufthansa est programmé pour le 6 juin à environ 20h30, heure à laquelle le footballeur de l'équipe allemande s'envolera de Francfort-sur-le-Main à Johannesburg pour la Coupe du Monde 2010 qui se tiendra en Afrique du Sud.

On May 19, Frankfurt Airport (FRA) will once again welcome the A380 super jumbo. Fraport, owner and manager of FRA, expects the A380 to land at approximately 16:00 hours. Upon arrival, this first A380 to join the Lufthansa fleet will be officially named "Frankfurt am Main" by Frankfurt's lord mayor Petra Roth in a ceremony at the A380 maintenance base on the southern side of the airport. Lufthansa has ordered 15 A380s and taken options on another 10 for its superjumbo fleet to be based at the FRA intercontinental hub. The inaugural flight of Lufthansa's first A380 is scheduled for June 6 at about 20:30, when the German national soccer team takes to the skies on the Frankfurt am Main to Johannesburg for the World Cup 2010 hosted by South Africa.

Magellan Aerospace Corporation announced today that it has reached agreement with Rolls-Royce Plc and Rolls-Royce Deutschland Ltd & Co KG to manufacture mainline shafts and stub shafts for various Rolls-Royce engine programs. The work will be performed on these flight safety critical rotating parts at Magellan's Middleton Aerospace facility in Haverhill, MA. It is estimated that the gross program revenue will be approximately $US 425 million over the 15-year term of the agreement.

Turkish Airlines Accident Report Confirms AEI Safety Warnings

Dutch accident investigators have now published the findings of their investigation[1] into the Turkish Airlines fatal crash near Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam on the 25th of February 2009. A major contributing factor to the accident was the non reporting of defects, an issue AEI has been warning about for some time now[2]. AEI further welcomes the report's support of AEI policy, recommending regulators including EASA, to "make (renewed) efforts to ensure airlines are aware of the importance of reporting and ensure that reporting procedures are adhered to."

L'éruption volcanique sous le glacier islandais Eyjafjallajokull et le nuage de cendres résultant qui s'est répandu sur l'espace aérien européen ont paralysé les activités aériennes de l'aéroport de Francfort (FRA) durant cinq jours en avril 2010. Il a fallu trois jours supplémentaires pour que les horaires des vols de FRA reviennent complètement à la normale. Pour Fraport, propriétaire et exploitant de l'aéroport de Francfort, cette paralysie a entraîné une chute de près de 17% du trafic passager en glissement annuel. Ainsi, la plate-forme internationale de FRA a desservi environ 3,5 millions de passagers au cours de ce mois - c'est la première fois depuis avril 2003 que FRA n'a pas dépassé la barre des quatre millions de passagers.

Le Groupe Fraport a terminé le premier trimestre 2010 avec des résultats d'exploitation de 115,8 millions d'euros. L'EBITDA (revenus avant intérêts, impôts, dotations aux amortissements et provisions) a augmenté de 12,4 pour cent par rapport à l'année dernière. Les revenus ont atteint 476,1 millions d'euros durant les trois premiers mois de l'année, ce qui représente une augmentation de 4,3 pour cent par rapport à l'année dernière. Les bénéfices du groupe ont baissé de 20 millions d'euros à 4 millions d'euros. La baisse a été principalement due à des montants d'intérêts plus élevés pour les importantes dépenses d'investissements de la société à l'aéroport de Francfort (FRA) et l'effet sur l'année de base des produits exceptionnels du printemps 2009.

The volcanic eruption beneath Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull glacier and the resulting ash cloud that spread over European airspace brought flight operations at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) to a standstill for five days during April 2010. It took another three days for FRA's flight schedule to get completely back to normal. For Fraport, Frankfurt Airport's owner and manager, this shutdown resulted in almost a 17 percent drop in passenger traffic year-on-year. Thus, the FRA international hub served about 3.5 million passengers in the reporting month - the first time since April 2003 that FRA has not exceeded the four million passenger mark.
