UNITE HERE Local 11: LAX Workers Demand that Airport Commissioners Guarantee Good Jobs as Concessionaire Bidding Process Begins

Over 400 LAX and Ontario airport concession workers packed the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners meeting today demanding that any companies that are granted new concessions contracts provide good jobs for the thousands of workers employed at the two airports. Half of the airport concessions contracts expire next year and the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners opened up the first phase of the bidding process for these contracts, which have been in place since 1995, by issuing a Request for Proposals in June of this year. Current food service concessionaires include, Host, Delaware North, CMS and Camacho. Gift shop concessionaires include Hudson News, Crews of LA, Jetway, and I Love LA. Concession contracts could change hands in November, potentially impacting the quality of jobs of hundreds of workers. UNITE HERE Local 11 currently represents over 1400 food and retail concessions workers at LAX where workers receive free family health insurance and wages range from $10.17 - $13.93 an hour with guaranteed periodic wage increases.

Triumph Group Announces Amendment of Revolving Credit Facility
